Should you tell the bar or brewery when you taste an off-flavor plus a question on using over-sized kettles when extract brewing — HHH Ep. 110

0

Welcome back to another episode of our homebrew podcast!

Thanksgiving is over and we’re stuffed. We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and loved ones and we hope you also were able to score some sweet homebrewing supplies during the madness that was Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend! We’d be remiss if we also didn’t mention how thankful we are for you as a listener and supporter of our show. We still don’t fully understand what you like about this show but we’ll keep producing it if you’ll keep listening! 😉

On today’s episode we take our first voicemail call from a listener who experienced off-flavors while recently visiting an out-of-town bar and he was wondering what OUR approach would be when informing the bar or brewery about an off-flavor. We also discuss a question from a listener who bought a 15 gallon kettle even though they’re still doing 5 gallon extract batches and he’s curious if he should use a smaller kettle or what options he has so he doesn’t have to shelve his awesome new 15 gallon Spike kettle for the time being.

Tips for moving up to all-grain from extract brewing and advice for the new homebrewer — HHH Ep. 109

0

Howdy and happy Thanksgiving, friends!

We’re back from our recent trip to Germany and Prague for the BrauBeviale 2018 and we had a blast. Due to someone’s poor planning and due diligence (not naming names since I’m the one who writes these show notes…;)  – joshua ) we didn’t publish an episode last week but we’ve got a great show for you today!

On today’s show, we discuss a question asking for tips on moving up from extract brewing to all-grain brewing and if the “traditional” route of using coolers and kettles versus using electric all-in-one solutions like The Grainfather. We also give advice to another listener who is brand new to the hobby and is considering starting his homebrewing journey!

Hello and happy Friday to you, our favorite homebrewer!

Studies have shown that speaking more broadly yet directly to your audience is supposed to help them connect with you so I figured I’d butter you up and call you “our favorite homebrewer” because I just know that the person taking the time to read this is definitely my favorite person. Unless you’re Rob from accounting. If it’s Rob from accounting then just know that I can’t stand you.

ANYWAY! Welcome back to another fun-filled episode of our show. We’ve teased this episode before and it’s finally here; a discussion and comparison of the Mash & Boil versus the Robobrew versus The Grainfather!

Thank you for joining us on another fun filled episode of our homebrewing podcast.

Here in Texas it is FINALLY starting to consistently feel like fall and that means our outside brew days are starting to FINALLY be more comfortable. On this episode we discuss some methods to help prevent mold in your kegerator (spoiler – moisture happens so cleanliness is of the utmost importance!) and we also take a question on brewing a marshmallow milk stout (which sounds incredibly delicious).

Homebrewer Showcase: A Conversation with Andrew Stutzman — HHH Ep. 104

0

What is going on, friends?!

Welcome to episode 104 is here and we’re extremely excited about today’s show.

The reason is that it’s the FIRST of many of its kind. We’ve been saying for a while how much we LOVE the homebrewing community and, specifically, how much we LOVE you all for taking time out of your week to hang out and listen to us goofs talk beer and chit chat. With that being said, we want to feature YOU on episodes of our show to learn more about your history as a homebrewer, what got you into the craft, who your inspiration is (the right answer is Joshua, obviously), and it’s a chance for you to discuss what you’re doing with homebrewing.

So this first episode features a conversation with longtime listener and friend of the show, Andrew Stutzman. Andrew is a young guy who has been infatuated with craft beer and homebrew for around five years. He is incredibly bright and knows his stuff! He also just got back from an awesome European “beercation” with his girlfriend that we discuss in full detail. It may be a long episode but it’s definitely worth your time!

0

Welcome back to another episode of our podcast!

Episode 103 of the Homebrew Happy Hour podcast is here for your listening AND viewing pleasure!

Join the guys – Joshua, James, and Todd, as they take YOUR questions on getting clarity when brewing lagers (clarity as in brightness of your beer not something more existential than that) as well as what “brew in a bag” aka B.I.A.B even means.

We had a wonderful time producing this episode and look forward to you consuming it and letting us know your thoughts. Please remember to leave us a rating and/or review wherever you’re consuming the show.

Difference between base grains and specialty grains fermentable sugars and brewing with blueberries! — HHH Ep. 102

0

Howdy there, homebrewer!

Welcome back to episode 102 of our podcast. Even though we did begin our video podcasting journey at episode 100, this is actually the first episode we’ve produced in our new ‘standard’ with Joshua, Todd, and James all piping in from their respective locations! Believe it or not, it wasn’t a total cluster-you-know-what either! Heeeey!

Episode 102 features a fun conversation about base grains versus specialty grains in regards to how they’re used and specifically the differences in their fermentable sugars plus we take a question from a listener on brewing with blue berries.
